シェイクスピアのソネットというものをこの映画で知った。公開当時、吉祥寺バウスシアターで観た時には、どこでどのソネットが朗読されているのか見当もつかなかったし、岩波文庫の翻訳もまだなかった。確か映画館には、坪内逍遥訳がパンフレットに引用されてあった。こうやって、YouTubeで繰り返し見ながら、原文や翻訳を参照しつつ観ると、実にストレートな内容だったんだと始めて知った。20年前には、わけわかんなくって、とっても退屈な代物だったんだけどね。なんか可能性と凄みをひしひし感じつつ、観ていてとっても眠かった。もともと「スーパー８」という解像度の低いフィルムをわざわざ選んで使っているのだし、まさにYouTubeサイズで、YouTube的低解像度で、だらだらと繰り返し観るのが、最適な映像作品なんだろう。若しくは、大画面に投影するにせよ、リピートでかけっぱなしにしてうだうだしながら観るともなく観るとか
